To correct a tax return from previous years, is it possible to use the 1040x form that's revise

I have to correct my taxes from the years 2005 and 2006 (I found out that I didn%26#039;t take a tax credit that I could have taken). So I just learned I have to file tax form 1040x to correct this. But which 1040x do I have to file? The recent one that was revised in 2007? Or the ones that were revised in 2006 and 2005?

Use the current version of Form 1040X (Revised 11/07) to file an amended return for any previous year%26#039;s taxes.

You must use the software for the years you are correcting, that way the taxes are calculated for the year in question.

You must use the 2005 1040X and the 2006 1040X.

They must be for the year you are amending.

visit IRS website: www.irs.gov and download the previous year forms.
