What you heard is true if you meet income requirements. Without a qualifying child, your income for the year must be under $12,590. Depending on your earned income, EIC can range from $2 to $428 if you qualify for EIC but don%26#039;t have any qualifying children.

I would think you could go to www.irs.gov and see what you have to qualify for to get EIC. Earned Income Credit is just for people who do not earn much during the year and the IRS are trying to help you by giving you your refund during the year, instead of at year end. If you do not save money during the year, I would not apply for this, at year end you will get a refund check, that would be like putting money away all year and getting a check at the end. It is really not much money each week, but seems like a lot more at year end when it is a lump sum payment.

go to your local library and get a tax book; EIC will be in there for estimating how much of a tax break you can receive. Subtract that amount from how much you already put in and you should have your average return

If you single have no dependents, 25 years old, and work receiving wages then you may qualify for EIC. You can download the 1040ez form and instructions from the web site at: irs.gov. The instructions will have the tax tables that you will need. The form is very easy to complete. Do not forget your state taxes either.
