The tax credits you mention are for encouraging and helping poor people who work but who don%26#039;t get enough pay to be able to support their families - it keeps them OFF welfare.
If you resent the help other people get, well, then, you are resentful. Some people are GLAD they don%26#039;t have to rely on Earned Income Credits....

Historically, children would be helping a family by the time they were 5-7, usually helping their parents do whatever they did to make money.
Now, children generally do not spend any significant amount of time earning money until they are 16-20, because we recognize the value of an education. Child tax credits offset this, and provide an economic help to parents. This small fact may surprise you, but children are sorta needed to perpetuate the human race.
Earned Income tax credits are generally only earned by people that work in low-end unskilled jobs, or who only worked part of a year (for whatever reason. The money given to them instantly goes right back into the economy, and most people who get that money desperately need it.
