I have heard that I will have to delay in filing my taxes due to a form that Congress delayed on issuing. It was something to do with childcare tax credits. Has anyone else heard this? If so, how soon can I file??? I have all of my paperwork done and I am ready to file now, but there is the lingering fear that I may be either penalized or miss a deduction by filing now.

File with another company. I was using TaxAct and they said that some forms were not released. I knew better, as I have file taxes out our program at work. I decided to go with another company, and I was able to file :-) Most forms, especially the one for child care and child credit are available

If you file Form 1040-A and Schedule 2 it can be delayed. If you file Form 1040 and Form 2441 the result is the same but it is not delayed.

Generally only with 1040A for most credits. You only have to wait until February 11. Education credits are amongst those delayed. Most tax preparers or tax programs will tell you if this applies to you.

The delay was with the child care credit if you file a form 1040A and schedule 2. You can get around it by filing form 1040 instead of 1040A. Or you can wait another week and file the 1040A.
